Beginner Sailing Lessons: CAN-Sail 2 / White Sail

Adult Learn to Sail! - CANSAIL 1 & 2

Your Westwood membership gives you access to subsidized sailing lessons. Whether you've never set foot in a boat or you're looking for a refresher, our Learn to Sail class teaches you the basic skills of sailing on our fleet of Albacores. Successful completion of the course certifies you for the Canadian Yachting Association CANSail Levels 1 & 2. Topics covered include: safety, seamanship and boat handling in winds up to 17 km/hr.

In 2012, the CYA updated their sailing certification lessons and the old "White Sail 1-3" level became "CANSail 1 &2". To learn more about the new CAN-Sail curriculum, click here.

The CANSail 1 & 2 class is runs for 5 weeks and only costs $85 for Westwood members. We offer a choice of four sessions in 2013:

Class A - May (Weeknights)

Monday & Wednesday nights from 6 pm - 9:30 pm
April 29 - May 29, 2013
Plus Water Safety Clinic - Sunday May 5

Class B - June (Weeknights)

Monday & Wednesday nights from 6 pm - 9:30 pm
June 3 - July 3, 2013
Plus Water Safety Clinic - Sunday June 2

Class D - June (Weekends)

Saturday classes from 10 am - 4 pm
May 25 - June 22, 2013
Plus Water Safety Clinic - Sunday May 5 or June 2

Class C - July (Weeknights)

Monday & Wednesday nights from 6 pm - 9:30 pm
July 8 - Aug 7, 2013
Plus Water Safety Clinic (Sunday June 2 or TBD)
