About westwood
Westwood Sailing Club is a not-for-profit, member-run co-operative sailing and social club located in Toronto’s Portlands near Cherry Beach. Since 1967, our mission has been simple: to make sailing accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for adults in the city.
We offer a unique “cottage in the city” experience—close enough for convenience, yet tucked away enough to feel like a true escape. Our peaceful, waterfront setting gives you direct access to Lake Ontario, a vibrant community of fellow sailors, and a laid-back atmosphere perfect for learning, relaxing, and connecting.
Westwood Sailing Club offers access to a fleet of over 25 club-owned sailboats, including 12 Albacore dinghies, 6 Lasers, 3 Hobie 16s, a Nacra 500, 2 Hobie Waves, and a Hobie Gateway. Members can also enjoy a paddle board and 3 kayaks. With unlimited sailing and no need to own a boat, members have full use of our waterfront clubhouse, and docks. We also offer adult sailing lessons led by Sail Canada–certified instructors.
We are proudly 100% volunteer-run, and an average of 200 active members each year. Our elected 12-member Executive team manages club operations, whose roles and responsibilities are defined in our Club bylaws.
To teach adults to sail, provide access to boats and facilities, and offer a welcoming, social lakeside community.
